The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to finalise the zoning arrangement for the sharing of presiding officers’ positions in the upcoming 10th National Assembly, which will be inaugurated in June.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will convene on Monday, May 8th, to ratify the zoning formula.
The move comes after a meeting between the NWC and President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where a consensus was reached on the sharing of the six offices in each of the two chambers of the National Assembly.
Last Wednesday, the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, had announced that the party was considering a consensus arrangement for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
He also mentioned that the party would consult widely with the President-elect to ensure that everyone was on the same page.
At the meeting on Friday, the APC leadership directed all aspirants to comply with the arrangement for the sharing of presiding officers’ positions in the National Assembly.
Present at the meeting were the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; the two Deputy National Chairmen, Senator Abubakar Kyari (North) and Chief Emma Enuokwu (South); the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
