The 18 holes golf course of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja will be beehive of golfing activities as no fewer than 500 golfers including 32 professionals and 20 on-training professionals as well as candids and staff swing for honours in Mike Ekoja 2023 Captain’s Cup, teeing off on Thursday.
At a press conference held on Tuesday to herald the week-long tournament, chairman of the planning committee, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, said the competition, which mark the end of Mike Onoja Ekoja’s tenure as the captain.of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, will also feature international golfers from the neighbouring Cameroon, United kingdom (UK), UAE and others.
“Mike Ekoja set out on the journey to steer the ship of this great club one year ago and as tradition toward the end of tenure of every captain we celebrate his stewardship by organizing great tournaments in golf and tennis for members. But this is unique and the biggest over the previous ones organised over the years.
“This present captain was tagged traveling captain because he has reasons to visit quite a number of counties as a group and few of golf club captains of those countries are coming around to participate and celebrate his tenure,” Oyeyemi said.
