Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, to pay the N5 million compensation awarded to Adedotun Clement, a driver who was assaulted during an #EndSARS event.
The compensation was awarded by a federal high court in Lagos in March after Clement was manhandled by the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency and police officers during the #EndSARSMemorial rally in October 2021.
The governor acknowledged the impact of the legal battle on Clement and interceded in the interest of public good, despite the state government’s appeal against the ruling.
