Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbo socio-cultural organization, has refuted a media report signed by Tony Chiemelu Obizoba, director general of implementation and strategic planning of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, which stated that Peter Obi was not destined to become Nigeria’s president.
Alex Ognonnia, the national publicity secretary of the group, released a statement on Monday, indicating that the organization was actually impressed with Peter Obi’s performance in the presidential election held on February 25.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo dissociated itself from any statement or insinuation that suggests that Obi is not destined to rule Nigeria, stating that he is a man with a proven track record of efficient performance in governance and business.
The group expressed concern over the proliferation of fake news on social media. Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the winner of the 2023 presidential election with 8,794,726 votes, followed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi came third with 6,101,533 votes.
