Despite taking PDP votes in south-east, south-south, Obi couldn’t have won, says Atiku

During a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), announced that his party is willing to form an alliance with the Labour Party (LP).

Abubakar acknowledged that his party lost a significant number of votes to Peter Obi, the LP presidential candidate in the recent election, particularly in the south-east and the south-south regions.

However, he emphasized that to become president, one needs votes from all over the country. Abubakar stated that the PDP is open to dialogue with Obi, whether to form an alliance or not.

He also mentioned that Obi left the PDP to join the LP after the PDP governors insisted on selecting a candidate among themselves for the standard-bearer and vice presidential candidate positions.

Abubakar stood and fought against the governors and eventually won the party’s presidential ticket, while Obi left the party to join the LP. Abubakar further noted that both the PDP and LP rejected the results of the recent election and plan to challenge them in court.
