Nigeria Immigration Service orders 24-Hour border closure during elections

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued an order to close the country’s borders on Saturday for the upcoming presidential and National Assembly elections.

Isah Jere Idris, the Comptroller General of NIS, sent a circular to command comptrollers across the nation, instructing them to enforce the directive.

The circular, titled “Border Closure for the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Elections,” stated that the Federal Government had mandated the complete closure of all land borders from 00:00 hours on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, until 00:00 hours on Sunday, February 26th, 2023.

All Command Comptrollers, particularly those in Border States, are expected to ensure that this directive is strictly enforced.
