New poll predicts victory for Tinubu with outright win in 17 states

Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged as the favored candidate to win the upcoming presidential election, according to a recent poll conducted by the Nigerian Human Rights Community (NHRC).

The poll surveyed 19,365 people in January and found that 41% of those interviewed across all 774 LGAs in Nigeria preferred Tinubu.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are also considered leading candidates.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Taiwo Adeleye, secretary-general of the NHRC, stated that Tinubu holds a significant lead and is on course to win the election.

The poll also indicated that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi are expected to compete for the second position, while Kwankwaso is predicted to win only in his home state of Kano.

Tinubu’s advantage was attributed to his Islamic background and the support he has from APC governors. The poll predicted victories for Tinubu in 17 states and a minimum of 25% of votes in 12 other states. Atiku Abubakar is expected to win in seven states, while Obi is predicted to win in seven states.

Overall, the NHRC poll revealed that Tinubu is the leading candidate in the upcoming presidential election, with a significant advantage over his rivals.
