Peter Obi, Atiku, others can’t match my track records, says Tinubu

In a recent opinion piece published in The Economist, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, claimed that his competitors in the 2023 Presidential elections cannot match his track record.

Tinubu is competing against Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), respectively.

Tinubu highlighted his achievements during his tenure as the governor of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007, where he implemented a “legacy of technocratic governance” by bringing in private sector talent. He noted that he quadrupled state tax revenues and invested in public services and infrastructure. Additionally, he tackled insecurity and crime by improving the funding of the police force, which led to growth in the business sector.

Today, Lagos is among Africa’s ten largest economies and is no longer dependent on oil revenues to fund its budget.

Throughout his campaign, Tinubu has consistently emphasized his accomplishments during his time as Lagos state governor.
