Cameroon Health Ministry on Friday said the country has restricted movement along its border with Equatorial Guinea following “several unexplained deaths” from hemorrhagic fever.
In a statement, the ministry said the restrictions were imposed in “view of the high risk of importation of this disease and in order to detect and respond to any cases at an early stage.’’
It added that investigations were underway and epidemiological surveillance had been strengthened with the support of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Atlanta Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
