EFCC, NDLEA bust Lagos cartel with fake $269,000 – Report

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have uncovered a fake dollar cartel operating in Lagos.

According to a statement from the NDLEA’s Media Director, Femi Babafemi, the joint operation was conducted based on intelligence received from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The cartel was found to be trafficking in counterfeit American currency and was based in the commercial city of Lagos.

A total of $269,000 in fake US dollars were seized and three suspects were arrested in the Oniru area of Lekki.

The NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, has ordered that the counterfeit currency and suspects be handed over to the EFCC for prosecution.
