At its 2021/2022 Convocation ceremony on Friday, Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, awarded First-Class degrees to 206 of its students.
A total of 1,934 students graduated from the university during this academic session, with 206 earning First-Class honors (12.28%), 744 earning Second-Class Upper honors (44.36%), 620 earning Second-Class Lower honors (36.97%), 107 earning Third-Class honors (6.38%), and 257 receiving post-graduate degrees.
The best-performing student was Fatima Andat from the Department of Accounting in the College of Management and Social Sciences, who achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Abiodun Adebayo, stated that Covenant University is committed to raising a new generation of leaders who will restore the dignity of the black race and has established itself as a leading world-class university and the top higher education destination in Africa.
The Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, encouraged the graduands to be productive and take responsibility in order to avoid becoming liabilities, and encouraged parents to allow their children to do the same.
The Registrar of the university, Dr. Regina Tobi-David, stated that the graduands have been transformed through the principles and values of the institution and are now prepared to make an impact and leave their mark in society.
