Deceased policemen families get N70m from Lagos govt 

The Lagos State Government said it had paid N70 million in compensation to security officers who died or got injured in the line of duty in the state since the inception of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in May 2019.

The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, stated this at the presentation of N5m cheque to the family of a Rapid Response Squad officer, SP Oluwatobi Peters, who died in active service.

A statement on Saturday by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Sesan Awobadejo, said medical care was also provided for security operatives who got injured while discharging their duties.

It stated, “The State Government provided the monetary support as a token and the government’s efforts at comforting the families left behind, maintaining that no amount of financial gift could make up for lost lives and the gallantry of the fallen patriots.
